These are the main installation work is Foucault's "Words and things". The subtitle of her
-- "The archeology of the Humanities". Here, Foucault explores the historical
changing structure (in his terms, the "historical a priori"),
which determine the conditions of the possibility of the opinions, theories or even science in
each period of history, and calls them "epistamai". Foucault
opposes "archaeology", which isolates these structures, these
episteme., historical knowledge completepackage type, which describes
certain opinions before finding out the conditions of their possibility. Main
a regulating principle inside each episteme-is the ratio of "words"
and "things". Respectively different in this respect, Foucault isolates in
the European culture of new time three "episteme": Renaissance (?UI
century), classical (rationalism XVIII-- XVIII centuries) and modern (late
XVIII-the beginning of XIX century to the present).
In the Renaissance episteme words and things identical to each other,
directly correlated with each other, and even interchangeable
(word-symbol). In the episteme of the classical rationalism of words and things
deprived of the immediate similarities, and relate only indirectly --
through the thinking, in view space (not in the mental sense!)
(word-image). In the modern episteme words and things is mediated by "language",
"life", "work", beyond the space of representation (the word
-- sign in a system of signs). Finally, in the recent literature we can see how
language, more and more closes in on itself, finds its
independent existence. The word-symbol word-image, word, closed on itself
himself, - these are the main twists and turns of language in modern
culture. In the cognitive space they define, according to Foucault,
the relationship of elements, more or less indirectly relate with the language.
